On 28th September 2021, Dayananda Sagar Business Academy had led an engaging and lively discussion on marketing. The session commenced at 9:30 A.M on the zoom platform, it began with the brief introduction of Prof Sanjeev C, With 20 years of corporate experience, began career in sales for 5 years before switching to marketing for the next 15 years. Worked for a number of well-known organisations, including Cadburys, Reliance Communications, and the Tata Group.  Also worked in both domestic and foreign markets.  Since 2011, worked in marketing and strategy at senior leadership levels. Previously, worked as a marketing director for an Afghan telecommunications firm.  Presently employed in DSBA. 

The meeting began with a basic overview of what marketing entails. Marketing is defined as an activity, set of instructions, and procedures for generating, conveying, delivering, and exchanging value-added offerings for customers, clients, partners, and society as a whole. Which covered the broad topics of discovering, generating, and distributing value to meet the needs of a target market at a profit? Unmet wants and desires are identified via marketing. The size of the recognised market and profit potential is defined, measured, and quantified.

Also addressed the questions of why, what and how. And a few myths were debunked. Critical thinking stages were then followed.  Where different levels of thinking were present and discussed.   Then talked about whats on the minds of marketers. Various notions, for example creative thinking, dual brained, gift of gab and a slew of other ideas were tossed around. And instructed to always think like a Marketer, as it offers a fresh new approach to a more powerful and lasting way to do business that involves a sometimes-subtle but always-impactful shift in mindset.

 He then portrayed and discussed how to break into the marketing landscape in the industry. Subjects that were discussed are sales to marketing, direct into marketing and any functions to marketing. And enlisted what marketing positions are available relating to Digital marketing, media management, consumer insights, advertising and promotions, trade marketing, marketing research and ARG (Acquire retain grow). 

Finally, an intriguing question was posed.

It was indeed a captivating presentation, where the meeting came to a close with a Q&A session, where a few students asked some fascinating questions.

He then congratulated all the new board members of the Marketing club.
