Orientation on Ms Office

Dayananda Sagar Business Academy, had organised an orientation on MS Office  for students of BBA from 12-04-22 to 23-05-22 at College campus A block, 103 computer lab.

Professor Hemavathi.S, Dayananda Sagar Business Academy begun the learning session by welcoming and introducing the Resource Ms. Lakshmi ma’am.

Structural Query Language

Lakshmi ma’am was friendly and approaching, ma’am taught us SQL ‘ Structural Query Language’. It was a complete new topic for all of us. And we enjoyed throughout the SQL sessions. We learnt about DBMS and its terminologies, data types, commands, constraints, keys and many more. We had SQL sessions for 3 days, basically SQL helps to retrain the particular set of data very easily and rapidly through commands. It also helps to alter, insert and update the data. Though we got many errors while learning, but exceptionally it was enjoyable and informative.

MS Excel session

(Started from 16-05-22)

MS Excel session was very useful session. We learned formula bar, spreadsheet, tabs, using rows and columns, alignments, access to the toolbars, merging cells, inserting pictures and many more. They taught charting and graphing and how to add 3D charts. MS Excel helps to store huge data in simple and precise manner, in turn helps to get the desired data in seconds. We also learnt various formulas that were related to the same like how to perform complex and simple mathematical functions with large and technical arrays of data. There were a lot of times when we didn’t get the desired results but ma’am was always there to assist us and help us gain new perspective.

MS Word

MS word is a word processing software. It helps to create and maintain documentary files. MS word has almost  similar features as MS excel. We learned Editing and formatting, alignments, inserting pictures, how can we get a screenshot, Translator, mailing,  creating bibliography and so on. Since we knew a little regarding word, this session helped us to go brief throughout.

Power Point

PowerPoint is a presentation program, where it is used across to present the data. It was a basic learning program, in this session we learned design, animation, changing templates, usage of notes, slideshow varying slides, inserting pictures and videos etc. It was fun doing this and great treat for eyes with those colorful wallpapers.

MS Access.

MS Access was a very interesting and informative module and we really got a good perspective on how exactly databases function.  Especially since we had done a course on SQL which mostly dealt with the same. We learnt how to create edit and format databases. Export and import various databases to different programs as per our needs. We also learnt the various applications of Access. Prof. Prabha mam was very patient while teaching us and also explained this module extremely well and gave a lot of importance to it as it is very crucial while operating with large amounts of data.

Conclusion

The whole course lasted around 7 days. It was very educational and informative. The concepts were explained in very basic and with clarity. Since these were full fledged courses on MS Office there was a lot of information that we had to process in a short amount of time. This is why so much of importance was given to the practical sessions. The course was so fun and exciting. We also took a little extra time because we were told to figure out and experiment with the features and other options that were available. Ma’am was very understanding and helped us out whenever we needed any assistance. She gave us very insightful details which helped enhance our understanding of the various tools and techniques that were involved with the programs.
