On the 18th of August 2022, a seminar was held in Dayanand Sagar Business Academy, Udayapura. This seminar was an initiative of ‘The Happiness Project’. Dr, Sandhya was invited to answer the questions and queries in the minds of the students.

The seminar started off on the note about how mental health plays a vital role in the student’s life. Dr. Sandhya enlightened the audience by talking about the common symptoms of being mentally stressed out and how to recognise and accept the fact that “I need help”. Furthermore, she went ahead to differentiate between anxiety and depression, that are often confused with each other.

Anxiety refers to the feeling of worry, nervousness or unease about a certain outcome where the reactions are heightened. In contrast to that, depression is the persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest where the emotions of the person are very low.

The discussion switched topics to how nowadays, the celebrities are glorifying and generalising mental health issues without understanding the depth or seriousness. Our college’s Principal Ma’am also emphasized the importance of understanding the symptoms to all the students present. In addition to this, Dr. Sandhya spoke upon how to come to terms with the fact that a person might need professional help or counselling. She imposed upon the importance of journaling while seeking help.

When the session was opened to hear the audience queries, thoughtful questions based on procrastination, manifestation and brain and heart connection were asked. To conclude, the session turned out to be an exceptional initiative taken to educate the young adults on the value of mental health.
